One must be knowledgeable of Wisconsin's ATV/UTV regulations to avoid legal penalities as well as remain a safe operator. Here is Wisconsin's regulation handbook. Remember to also follow local ordinances.

Wisconsin DNR GO Wild

ATVs and UTVs operating within the state and that meet the statutory definitions need to be registered as public use registration, private use-agricultural registration or private use-nonagricultural registration. Registration decals must be properly displayed. One can can obtain their registration and further information here.

ATV Safety course

ATV and UTV operators born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 who are at least 12 years old for ATV(and at least 16 years old for UTV) must complete an ATV and UTV safety certification course in order to operate on public ATV/UTV trails and areas in Wisconsin. DNR Conservation Wardens recommend all ATV and UTV operators complete a safety course. Here are some courses that can fufil this legal requirement.
